SUBMISSIONS OPEN FOR THE XVI LONDON ROLLING FILM FESTIVAL – EARLY BIRD ENTRY FROM JUST £1
The growing independent festival returns to central London from 17–21 September 2026 with expanded screenings, industry panels, networking opportunities, and 15 awards celebrating filmmaking talent.
London, UK – 5 March 2026 – The London Rolling Film Festival has officially opened submissions for its XVI edition, set to take place 17–21 September 2026 at Vue Cinema Piccadilly and other prestigious venues across central London.
The upcoming edition will feature more screenings, expanded industry panels, and increased networking opportunities with professionals from across the film and television industries, offering filmmakers a platform not only to showcase their work but also to develop new collaborations and career opportunities.
The festival will present 15 awards, recognising excellence across filmmaking craft: from the Best Short Film Audience Award to jury honours celebrating professionals working both in front of and behind the camera, including acting, cinematography, casting and music score.
The festival is also delighted to confirm the return of the True Spark Award for a second consecutive year. The award celebrates films that bring uplifting, inspiring and meaningful stories to the screen, highlighting the power of cinema to inspire positive change in the world. The “Kimberley Marren Recognition Award” will also continue to be presented, reflecting the festival’s commitment to shining a light on those who work tirelessly behind the scenes and whose contributions often go unseen. Presented for several years now, it celebrates the people who help shape the industry every day, ensuring their work is recognised and appreciated during their careers.
Continuing its commitment to supporting independent creatives, the festival will once again presentPR the Help To Roll Fund, an initiative designed to provide practical support to filmmakers and creatives looking to take the next step in their careers.
The fund has already supported a number of projects, including the short film You and Me Makes Three by Emmalie El Fadli, which will premiere at BFI Flare: London LGBTQIA+ Film Festival on 28 March 2026. The London Rolling Film Festival extends its congratulations to the entire cast and crew on this important milestone.
Over the years, the festival has welcomed guests and speakers associated with some of the most respected organisations in the British and international film and television industries, including BBC, Channel 4, Sky, Lionsgate, and members of BAFTA.
Notable guests and industry professionals included Emmy-nominated director Neil Marshall (Dog Soldiers, The Descent, Game of Thrones), Emmy Award-winning actor Nikolay Moss, BAFTA-winning producer Bob Clarke, BAFTA winner Kwadjo Dajan, Lionsgate Senior Theatrical Sales Manager Paul Sophocli, BBC presenter and Sky awards producer Amanny Mohamed, actress and producer Giulia Lupetti (Top Gun: Maverick), entertainment journalist Stephanie Takyi, whose work appears in Daily Mail, GB News, alongside many other professionals from across the film and media industries.

LONDON ROLLING FILM FESTIVAL XV ANNOUNCES AWARD WINNERS
London, UK – 7 September 2025 – The London Rolling Film Festival (LRFF) last night presented the winners of its fifteenth edition during the award ceremony at VUE Piccadilly.
The 2025 edition welcomed a packed red carpet featuring UK and international filmmakers alongside celebrated actors, producers, and Emmy® Award-winners, reinforcing LRFF’s reputation as one of London’s most vibrant boutique festivals for independent cinema.
Today, the festival concludes with “A Coffee With… Marcia Kimpton” at The Queens Head Piccadilly, followed by the Closing Party.

NICK MORAN JOINS INTERNATIONAL FILMMAKERS AT LONDON ROLLING FILM FESTIVAL XV
London, UK – 26 August 2025 – British actor Nick Moran (Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) will walk the red carpet alongside filmmakers and industry professionals from the UK, Europe and beyond at the 15th London Rolling Film Festival (LRFF), running from 5 to 7 September 2025 at Vue Piccadilly and The Queens Head.
Now in its fifteenth edition, the festival continues to serve as a boutique platform for independent cinema. This year’s Official Selection brings together UK and European filmmakers alongside talent from as far afield as Taiwan and the United States. All filmmakers will attend in person, offering UK audiences a rare opportunity to meet the creators behind the films through screenings, Q&As and networking sessions.

David Nicholas Wilkinson
Founder of Guerilla Films since 1995, David is a filmmaker with a rich career spanning acting, producing, directing, and distributing British and Irish films. He directed and produced documentaries such as The First Film, Postcards from the 48%, and Getting Away With Murder(s). His film Getting Away With Murder(s) was voted among The Guardian’s best films of 2021. He also served as Executive Producer on How to Change the World, and his company has released over 100 independent productions. In 1982, he produced a BBC adaptation of Virginia Woolf’s To the Lighthouse, one of the earliest true independent co-productions with the BBC.
Mark Rance
Mark is a documentary filmmaker and film restorer with decades of experience. He worked at the Criterion Collection before founding Watchmaker Films in London in 2004, focusing on restoring culturally significant independent films. His restoration projects include The Whole Shootin’ Match, Last Night at the Alamo, Eggshells, and A Bigger Splash. He has been a speaker on restoration at events such as The Miskatonic Institute of Horror Studies.
Stephanie Takyi
Stephanie is an entertainment and travel journalist known for her versatility across mediums. She serves as an Editor at the Daily Mail and is an on-screen Entertainment Reporter for GB News. Her work spans major outlets including Daily Mirror, The Sun, Evening Standard, and international platforms like CNN Travel and MSN. She also writes travel features and speaks on topics like diversity and women traveling solo.
Nazmun Nesa
Nazmun is an author, freelance journalist, and chairperson of Cinemaking Film Festival Berlin. She previously worked as an editor at Deutsche Welle Radio & TV in Bonn and is the founder and president of Bengal Zentrum in Berlin. Her literary achievements include the Ekushey Padak, Bangladesh’s highest award in language and literature.

LONDON ROLLING FILM FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES OFFICIAL SELECTION FOR 2025 EDITION
London, UK – July 21, 2025 – The London Rolling Film Festival returns from 5–7 September 2025 with screenings at Vue Cinema Piccadilly, presenting a curated programme of international short films, feature screenings, filmmaker Q&As, an industry panel, and exclusive networking events in central London.
The 2025 Official Selection features a diverse lineup of emerging and established talent, including several names with prestigious industry recognition:
- Jordan River, director of the opening film Joachim and the Apocalypse (Il Monaco che vinse l’Apocalisse), is a pioneer of Italian 3D cinema. The film has won Best Italian Feature film at the 79th Salerno International Film Festival, multiple awards at Terni Film Festival and nominations at the Septimius Awards in the Netherlands, and a Gold Medal for Original Score at the 2024 Global Music Awards in USA.
- Anna Simone Scott, writer-director of Take My Heart, received a Daytime Emmy® nomination in 2021. Her work has screened at Oscar- and BAFTA-qualifying festivals, and she is a winner of the BAFTA Los Angeles Members’ Short Film Festival.
- Marco De Luca, director of Buio Come il Cuore, has had previous films selected at BFI FLARE and OUTfest, and the feature includes collaborators who are Golden Globe®-nominated.
- Philip Walker (Armada) is a two-time BAFTA nominee and is currently developing Our Time, a new feature project with a high-profile creative team.
- Neil Marshall (Keep Young and Beautiful), Emmy®-nominated in 2014 for Game of Thrones (The Watchers on the Wall), is also a BIFA winner and leads a cast including talent from iconic series like Doctor Who and EastEnders.

London, UK – July 21, 2025 – The London Rolling Film Festival proudly unveils the official poster for its 15th Edition, taking place 5–7 September 2025 at VUE Cinema, Piccadilly. Designed by Stuart Peaty, a talented emerging artist supported by the creative education charity Accumulate, the artwork beautifully reflects the festival’s core themes of connection, resilience, and transformation.
Discovered through Accumulate by the festival’s design partner Giulio Mazzarini of GEM, Stuart brings a deeply personal and inspiring voice to this year’s visual identity. His textured illustration of two holding hands is a powerful symbol of unity and support.
“Celebrating 15 editions is a major milestone” says Alida Pantone, Festival Director. “This year, we are placing even more emphasis on stories that inspire and uplift, and Stuart’s own journey, as well as his art, embodies the spirit we want to champion.”
The 2025 edition marks the launch of the True Spark Award, a new recognition dedicated to films that share transformative, hopeful narratives. It reflects the festival’s ongoing commitment to give voice to the storytellers who dare to create change.

The True Spark Award is open to films of all lengths and genres. Uniquely, directors are not required to attend for this category, recognizing the global challenges filmmakers might face. LONDON ROLLING FILM FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES 2025 DATES
London, UK – November 30, 2024 – The London Rolling Film Festival (LRFF) is thrilled to announce its return to the prestigious VUE Cinema Piccadilly for its 2025 edition, taking place on 5th, 6th, and 7th September 2025.
Submissions for the festival will officially open on FilmFreeway starting 1st December 2024.
Filmmakers from around the globe are invited to submit their works, with categories open for feature films (over 80 minutes) and short films (under 15 minutes) across all genres.
Festival Director Alida Pantone expressed her enthusiasm for the upcoming 15th edition, stating:
“We are planning some exciting new sections for this year’s festival, including the ‘True Spark Award’, which will honour the most inspirational film.”
The Pitch Corner, a signature 15-minute session for filmmakers to present their projects in front of industry guests, and the Help to Roll Fund, a £1,000 grant awarded to support an outstanding filmmaker, are also confirmed for the 2025 edition.

LONDON ROLLING FILM FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES OFFICIAL SELECTION
London, UK – August 19, 2024 – The London Rolling Film Festival is delighted to announce its official selection for the 2024 event. This year’s festival will take place at VUE Piccadilly on the 27th and 28th of September, presenting a diverse range of films that showcase unique voices and creative visions from around the world.
With submissions from 28 countries and a remarkable 325% increase from last year, the selection reflects the festival’s growing global reach. The films, chosen for their exceptional quality and storytelling, represent the very best in independent filmmaking.
The festival will open with The Chocolate Club, a feature film by Deborah Hadfield, setting the tone for an inspiring two-day event. Continuing the tradition of fostering new talent, the Pitch Corner will offer filmmakers a platform to present their ideas to an audience and a panel of industry experts. The winner of the £1000 Help to Roll Fund will also be announced during the Award Ceremony on September 28th.
Festival Director Alida Pantone expressed her excitement, stating, “I am thrilled to see a significant increase in female filmmakers in competition this year, with 11 out of 15 selected films directed by women. It’s inspiring to witness such strong female representation in the industry, and I believe their unique perspectives will resonate with audiences”.
The festival will feature 13 Awards, judged by a distinguished panel of industry professionals. Among them is the Kimberley Marren Recognition Award, sponsored by The Fan Carpet, honouring unsung talents in the industry.
As is tradition, the audience will also vote for their favorite film, adding an exciting participatory element to the event.
For the very first time the London Rolling Film festival will open with a Feature Film:

JOANNE MITCHELL JOINS JURY FOR LONDON ROLLING FILM FESTIVAL 2024
London, UK – August 18, 2024 – We are excited to announce that renowned actor, writer, producer, and director Joanne Mitchell will be joining the Jury for the London Rolling Film Festival 2024.

LONDON ROLLING FILM FESTIVAL 2024: EXPANDED HORIZONS AND NEW HIGHLIGHTS
London, UK – August 3, 2024 – The London Rolling Film Festival (LRFF) is set to return for its 14th edition at the VUE Cinema Piccadilly on the 27th and 28th of September, 2024. This year, the festival has doubled both the number of days and films shown, highlighting its significant growth and expanding influence in the film industry (325% increase in submissions from last year).
We are pleased to announce Palm Tree Universal as the main sponsor for this year’s festival. Opening the festival will be the feature film “The Chocolate Club” by Deborah Hadfield on Friday, September 27th.
This year’s highlight is a panel discussion led by renowned filmmaker Robbie Moffat. Joining our host Rachele Fregonese, Moffat will provide insights into the processes behind filmmaking and the journey from concept to screen. The discussion will also cover film distribution and TV production on a global scale. The panel will be followed by a Q&A session.
Continuing the tradition of fostering new talent, Mike Smith will run the popular Pitch Corner, where aspiring filmmakers can present their project ideas and receive valuable feedback. LRFF is proud to facilitate connections between filmmakers and investors to create new projects, and this year will be no different.
The winner of the Help to Roll Fund, who will receive a £1000 grant, will be announced at the Award Ceremony on the evening of September 28th. Throughout the year, participants submitted pitches via FilmFreeway, and finalists have been selected to present their ideas in front of an audience and a panel of industry experts at the festival.
The London Rolling Film Festival will feature 13 awards judged by a distinguished panel of industry professionals. This year’s jury includes Paul McEvoy (FrightFest), Rachael Sutherland (Palm Tree Universal) and President of the Jury Amanny Mohamed (Sky, BBC).

Amanny Mohamed (president of the Jury) – Amanny is a seasoned TV Producer/Director, Presenter and Broadcaster with a rich background in indie and world cinema. She has produced prime-time film shows for Sky, and was the Senior Producer for UK-exclusive broadcast productions centred around the Oscars and Golden Globes ceremonies. As a film critic, she is a regular contributor on BBC radio and previously presented a popular arts and entertainment show on BBC Local stations. Amanny currently hosts the podcast “Art to Art with Amanny Mo,” featuring interviews with talent across the arts. She is passionate about supporting undiscovered talent and independent filmmaking.
Paul McEvoy – Paul is the founder and co-director of FrightFest, the UK’s largest genre film festival. Showcasing a wide range of fantasy, horror, thriller and science fiction films. Paul has hosted numerous film-related special events worldwide, including Q&A sessions with Elijah Wood, James Wan, Leigh Whannell, Jessica Alba and many more. Paul also worked in-house at the AMC Horror Channel for both the UK and Italy.
Rachael Sutherland – Rachael had her first introduction to the film industry in 1998 as a child actress in Love the One You’re With. She then went on to work on various productions including starring in the Trilogy: Winter Warrior, Bone Hunter and Axe Raiders as Ethne. As well as other roles in Finding Fortune, Red Rose and Rain Dogs. After completing a two year performance Course, she got behind the camera as a production assistant. She is now Producer at Palm Tree Universal.

The LRFF provides independent filmmakers from around the globe the exceptional opportunity to screen their work at VUE Cinema Piccadilly, right in the heart of London. This year, the festival has attracted submissions from 28 countries, highlighting the festival’s growing international appeal. This year’s submissions include filmmakers from the United Kingdom, Iran, the United States, Italy, France, Poland, India, Sweden, Peru, Ireland, Germany, Cyprus, Ukraine, Switzerland, Slovenia, Portugal, the Netherlands, Mexico, Iraq, Estonia, Denmark, the Czech Republic, China, Canada, Belgium, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. With an astonishing 325% increase in submissions from last year, the festival’s reach and popularity have skyrocketed.
Despite the mandatory presence rule, filmmakers from far and wide, including Texas and India last year, have flocked to London for this prestigious event.
